Flying Dutchman

A nuanced, refreshing Aviation/Sidecar riff from cocktail connoisseur Jim Meehan from PDT with fruit notes and a slight tropical touch The dry, yet plum forward eau de vie combines with the malty Dutch style Genever gin to create a flavorful foundation that allows the accents of pineapple (from the juice) and berries (from the Creme Yvette) to be detectable yet not overwhelming. The lemon juice helps dial in the proper acidity while the splash of funky Maraschino liqueur bridges the fruit notes with the genever and plum brandy .75 oz Genever-style Gin (Bols, Old Duff, etc; more malt forward in the older Dutch style than Old Tom and also a bit sweeter than London Dry) .75 oz Plum Brandy or Eau de Vie (Jelinek, Clear Creek, etc) .5 oz Creme Yvette (older French liqueur with berry notes and floral aroma; could also sub Blackberry Liqueur with similar results) .5 oz Fresh Pineapple Juice .5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice Barspoon Maraschino Liqueur (Luxardo, Leopold Brothers, etc) Shake with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a brandied cherry
