Flaneuse

A tropical, refreshing riff on the classic Planter’s Punch from the mind of NYC’s Shannon Mustipher with notes of earthy tropical fruit, marzipan, and citrus 🍹🏝🥥 The grassy sugarcane funk of the agricole Rhum and Clairin are softened by the dry, almond notes of the amontillado sherry which combine with the toasted coconut syrup and honeyed/bittersweet notes of the Czech amaro (Becherovka). The papaya purée contributes earthy tropical fruit notes that work with the citrus zip from the lime juice to balance the drink and make a very tasty punch indeed 1.5 oz Unaged Rhum Agricole (Rhum JM, Neisson, La Favorite, etc) .5 oz Clairin (Haitian sugarcane rhum; Clairin Sajous is nice here) 1 oz Amontillado Sherry (Lustau, Hidalgo, Bodegas Yuste; light sweetness and almond notes) .25 oz Becherovka (Czech amaro with notes of cinnamon, honey, mild bittersweetness) .75 oz Fresh Lime Juice .5 oz Papaya purée (cut ripe papaya in half and remove seeds, remove skin and cut into cubes; blend with a splash of coconut water until smooth) .5 oz Toasted Coconut Syrup (toast 1/4 C unsweetened shredded coconut on medium-low heat until golden and fragrant; add 1/4 C granulated sugar and 1/2 C Coconut Water and stir/simmer until sugar dissolves; let simmer 1-2 minutes before removing from heat; strain and reserve toasted coconut for other use (great topping ice cream!) Shake with ice and strain into a chilled footed pilsner glass. Garnish with a swizzle stick and other garnish of choice (cocktail umbrella, edible flower, pineapple wedge, etc) #weekendtiki
