My variation on the refreshing, Tiki-styled beer cocktail from Martin Cate and Smuggler’s Cove in SF The grapefruit and cinnamon flavors are natural friends that also play well with hop notes from the beer while the lime adds some nice citrus zing and the agricole rhum provides a nice, funky base 2 oz unaged Agricole Rhum .5 oz Fresh Lime Juice .5 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice* .5 oz Cinnamon Syrup (smash 3-4 cinnamon sticks with 1 part granulated sugar:1 part water; stir until dissolved and simmer 5 minutes before straining out cinnamon bark) Shake with ice, strain into footed pilsner glass with a few ice cubes. Top with 3 oz pale ale or tropical (non-hoppy) IPA* *Smuggler’s Cove recipe omits grapefruit juice and uses Stiegl Grapefruit Radler, but I like it with fresh grapefruit and beer of choice
