Diki-Diki Cocktail

A streamlined, refined Tiki classic (from Robert Vermiere in 1920s London) appearing here in a slightly adapted form from Portland’s Teardrop Lounge The funky, tannic, and baking spice notes in the Swedish punsch (based on the initial punch ingredient, Batavia arrack) works really well with the apple and oak notes in the apple brandies while a bit of grapefruit juice lightens the drink and works well with the tea notes in the punsch 1 oz Calvados (slightly more aged expressions may work better with the other ingredients than younger versions) .5 oz Aged Apple Brandy (Clear Creek, St George, etc) .75 oz Swedish punsch (Kronan; a rum and arrack based liqueur that brings funk, tea notes, and baking spice) .5 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice Shake with ice and strain into a chilled coupe.
