Dial ‘M’

A refreshing, yet complex Sour riff from East Coast drinks wizard Al Sotack that features fall/winter flavors and spices with some uplifting citrus 🥃🍎 The funky apple notes from the young Apple brandy are highlighted in pairing with the malty Genever (Dutch) style gin to form a flavorful base that works nicely with the deep sweetness of the maple syrup. The fresh grapefruit juice balances the drink and adds zip while a boatload of Angostura bitters bring clove and allspice notes that complement the other flavors 1 oz Bonded Apple Brandy (Laird’s Bonded is widely available; feel free to use Calvados but no need to use anything too fancy) 1 oz Genever Gin (Dutch style that is earlier form of gin; far more malty and less juniper than London Dry style; Bols, Duff, Anchor all make good versions) 1 teaspoon Angostura bitters (this is a healthy amount!) 1 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice .5 oz Maple Syrup Shake with ice and strain into a double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Express the essential oils from a grapefruit twist (discarding the twist after)
