A spice-infused Rum Old Fashioned Variation
The ancho chile liqueur and honey syrup work with the molasses and sugarcane notes of the rum to bring a deep sweetness with a spicy tingle at the finish (enhanced by the Bitters). The orange oils from the twist enhance the aroma
1.5 oz Blended Aged Rum (Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva or El Dorado 12 are good choices)
.5 oz Aged Agricole Rhum
.25 oz Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur (liqueur with ancho chile infused into base)
.25 oz Honey Syrup (2 parts honey: 1 part warm water)
Stir with ice and strain into chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with an orange twist
