Caribbean Queen

A refined, yet tropical Old Fashioned riff from Natasha Bermudez of NYC’s excellent Llama San 🏝🥃 The vanilla and banana notes in the Japanese malt works nicely with the notes of salt and nuts in the Amontillado sherry to provide a flavorful backbone that has its tropical flavors boosted by banana liqueur and splashes of Oaxacan sugarcane rum (aguardiente) and Pineapple liqueur. The Angostura adds some subtle complementary spice notes 1 oz Amontillado Sherry (Bodegas Yuste, Lustau, Grant, etc) 1 oz Nikka Coffey Malt (smooth Japanese blended malt with notes of vanilla and tropical fruit) .5 oz Banana Liqueur (Giffard or Tempus Fugit) 1 tsp Oaxacan Aguardiente (Paranubes; Avua Plata Cachaca is probably closest sub) 1/2 tsp Pineapple Liqueur (Giffard) 2 dashes Angostura bitters Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with the essential oils from a lime twist (discard the twist) #weekendtiki #stirredtropical #nomoreloveontherun
