Bjorn Identity

Manhattan riff fit for Fall
Inspired by the pairing of pear with aquavit or cardamom bitters in a handful of tasty Benjamin Cooper drinks and also the use of (nicer) Malort in the context of a Manhattan from Dennis Gobis' Bjorn Supremacy published in Brad Thomas Parsons' Amaro. The caraway from the aquavit pairs well with the spices, herbs, and floral bitterness from the malort, spiced pear liqueur, and cardamom
1.5 oz Linie Aquavit (receives some barrel aging and, in my opinion, works better in many stirred drinks than other aquavit options)
.5 oz Few Anguish & Regret Malort (much more balanced with some floral notes while lacking the harsh aftertaste of Jeppson's; Baska Snaps could also sub here)
scant .5 oz Pear Liqueur (if not using St George Spiced Pear, would also add a dash of Cinnamon or Clove forward bitters)
Barspoon (or 1/2 tsp) Rich Simple Syrup (2:1)
2 dashes Scrappy's Cardamom Bitters
Stir with ice, strain into chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon twist
