Bitter Mai Tai

A refreshing, modern classic spin on the Mai Tai from Jeremy Oertel during his time at Brooklyn’s Dram
The bittersweet, yet juicy Campari and lime juice combine to yield a flavor close to cranberry while the orgeat and orange liqueur smooth out the flavors (while adding subtle almond and orange accents) and the Overproof Blended Lightly Aged Jamaican Pot Still Rum adds notes of ripe pineapple along with some funky oomph. The mint garnish lends a pleasant aroma as you sip. Excellent before or with dinner on a warm evening
1.5 oz Campari (or other red aperitivo of choice)
.75 oz Overproof Blended Lightly Aged Jamaican Pot Still Rum (Smith & Cross)
.5 oz Orange Curaçao (Pierre Ferrand Dry is my favorite)
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
.75 oz Orgeat (Almond syrup; Small Hand Foods makes a nice version, others also available)
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with an inverted lime shell and a sprig of fresh mint
