A comforting, spiced Old Fashioned riff that takes advantage of the affinity between whiskey and apples 🍎 🍏 🥃 The baking spice and vanilla notes in the bourbon combine with the honey and smoke notes in the blended whiskey to complement the apple notes in the cider reduction. The apple flavors are also underlined by the addition of apple brandy while the bitters add a touch of maple 1 oz Bourbon .5 oz High West Campfire Whiskey (blend of bourbon, rye, scotch that has a nice smoke note; can sub Islay malt scotch) .5 oz Aged Apple Brandy (St George, Clear Creek, Osocalis all good options; a nice Calvados also works) .5 oz Apple Cider reduction (1/2 C fresh apple cider, pinch of brown sugar, 1/4 Tsp cinnamon, 2 cloves; stir until combined and reduce by half volume to more syrup-like consistency with deep spiced apple flavor) 2 dashes Urban Moonshine Maple Bitters Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube.
