Berry Dangerous Fix

A refreshing summertime Fix/Swizzle riff slightly modified from the Jane Danger recipe from her time behind the stick at NYC’s excellent NoMad Bar 🍓
The flavor of the ripe strawberry is boosted by the bit of strawberry liqueur and cane syrup and is very complementary with the juicy notes in the bittersweet Campari, the anise and spice notes in the aquavit, and the tart lemon juice. A bit of orange flower water adds a fragrant note
Muddle 1 medium size ripe strawberry (hulled and quartered) in .5 oz Cane Syrup (2:1 rich simple syrup from unrefined sugar such as Demerara or Turbinado works as a sub)
Add:
1.5 oz Aquavit (bottle like Krogstad with pronounced star anise notes works best)
.25 oz Campari (or other red Aperitivo of choice)
.25 oz Strawberry Liqueur* (Giffard; this is a personal preference to emphasize the strawberry; can also use extra .25 oz of Cane Syrup in muddling and omit this ingredient)
.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
4 drops Orange Flower Water
Add small chunk of ice and shake for 15-30 seconds to whip drink; strain into a chilled double rocks glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a hulled strawberry
