Beauregard’s Breakfast

A refreshing riff on a whiskey sour from Seattle Bartender Jamie Boudreau with refreshing berry and citrus flavors for a warm summer evening The vanilla and baking spice notes in the bourbon work nicely with the fresh berry flavors in the blueberry syrup while the lemon adds some tartness, the mild Amaro adds a bittersweet note that lends depth, and the bitters add some spice notes 1.5 oz Bourbon (Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig, etc) .75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice .5 oz Amaro Montenegro (Italian Amaro with mild bitterness and pleasant spice and citrus peel notes) .5 oz Blueberry Syrup (add 1/2 C each fresh blueberries, granulated sugar, and water to a pot and turn heat to medium-low; stir until sugar has dissolved and mixture is near boil; turn heat to low and simmer 5 minutes, using the back of the spoon to smash the berries; strain) 2 dashes Angostura Bitters Shake with ice and strain into a chilled coupe.
