Beach Lane Collins

A refreshing low ABV Bramble/Collins riff with berry and spice notes named for the location of my favorite mulberry bush in front of my best friend’s house 🍹🍋 The manzanilla sherry has flavors akin to a dry white wine with notes of green apple and sea brine that works nicely with the juniper notes in the Old Tom gin and the star anise notes in the unaged aquavit to create a nice complementary base for the deep, juicy mulberry flavors. Splashes of blanc vermouth, cinnamon syrup, aromatic bitters, and blackberry liqueur help boost the notes of berries and spice while the fresh lemon juice balances the acidity and brightens the drink. The Amaro soda brings effervescence and a nice bittersweet note while the fresh mint brings a pleasant aroma Muddle 3-4 ripe mulberries in .25 oz Blanc vermouth (Dolin) Add: 1 oz Manzanilla Sherry (dry, white wine like Sherry; Hidalgo, La Guita, Bodegas Yuste, Lustau, etc) .5 oz Unaged Aquavit (Krogstad has a star anise note that is nice with berry flavors) .5 oz Old Tom Gin (a touch sweeter and less assertive than London Dry Style Scofflaw, Hayman’s) 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice Tsp Blackberry Liqueur (Giffard, Leopold Brothers) Tsp Cinnamon Bark Syrup (crush 3-5 cinnamon sticks and toast until fragrant; add equal volumes of granulated sugar and water and stir on medium-low heat until sugar has dissolved; simmer 5 minutes before straining) 1 dash Aromatic Bitters of choice (Abbott’s, Angostura, Bitter Truth, etc) Shake with ice and strain into a chilled Collins glass with ice cubes. Top with 2 oz Casamara Club Amaro Soda (their Sera with rhubarb and cinnamon bark is nice here). Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a swizzle stick #happymomsday #memoriesofOD
