A modernized, less sweet riff on the vacation classic from Lost Lake’s Paul McGee 🍌🥥🍍🍹
The caramelized banana notes in the lightly aged Jamaican rum work with the tropical fruit aromas in the overproof rum to provide a nice canvas for the rich coconut, bright pineapple, zippy pomegranate, tart lemon, banana, and orange flavors to mingle. 1 oz Lightly Aged Jamaican Rum (Plantation Xaymaca, Appleton Signature, etc)
.75 oz Overproof Jamaican Rum (Rum Bar, Rum Fire, etc)
1 oz Fresh Pineapple Juice
1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.5 oz Coconut Liqueur or Syrup (Kalani if liqueur)
.5 oz Pomegranate Syrup (equal parts simple syrup and pomegranate molasses)
.25 oz Orange Curaçao (Pierre Ferrand Dry makes the most balanced version)
.25 oz Banana Liqueur (Giffard or Tempus Fugit)
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled Hurricane glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a swizzle stick
