Artful Dodger

A rich, funky Old Fashioned riff from Death & Co’s Tyson Buehler that has notes of banana butterscotch pudding 🍌🥃🍮 The roasted fruit notes and caramelized sugar notes in the Aged armagnac combine with the molasses and brown sugar notes in the rum to form a flavorful base that accentuates the funky/umami/slightly sweet and butterscotch like notes in the white miso (used in a syrup) and the roasted tropical fruit notes in the banana liqueur. Delicious! 1 oz Aged Armagnac (French brandy from Gascony vs Cognac region; Tariquet, Chateau de Pellehaut, Domaine Mahoum and others make great bottlings) 1 oz Blended Aged Rum (El Dorado 12 or 15 year would be a great choice) Tsp White Miso Syrup (1/2 C each unrefined sugar of choice and water + 1 Tbsp white miso paste on medium-low heat; whisk until miso paste is fully incorporated and sugar has dissolved; strain into jar) 1/2 Tsp Banana Liqueur (Giffard or Tempus Fugit) Stir with ice and strain into a chilled double rocks glass with a large ice cube.
