Aomori Highball

A refreshing autumnal highball riff perfect for cooling off on an Indian Summer afternoon 🍏🍎 The green apple and orchard fruit notes from the liqueur and Calvados work in great harmony with the honey and spice notes in the Japanese blended malt and the clove and other baking spice notes in the falernum while the lemon brightens the drink and adds needed acidity. The tonic water adds effervescence and a bittersweet finish that leaves you wanting the next sip 1 oz Blended Japanese Whisky (Suntori Toki, St George Baller, etc) 1 oz Calvados (apple brandy from France; no need to use anything aged too long here; an American apple brandy could also sub) .5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice .25 oz Green Apple Liqueur (Leopold Brothers New York Sour Apple) .25 oz Falernum (Rum-based liqueur with notes of clove and lime zest from Barbados) Shake with ice and strain into a chilled Collins glass with ice cubes. Top with 2.5 oz Tonic Water (Fever Tree, Q, etc). Garnish with a lemon twist
