Abbey Street Punch

A nice, refreshing punch from the mind of Erick Castro of San Diego’s excellent Polite Provisions
The presence of the Irish Whiskey and Stout lend a sturdy base with the Guinness contributing a bit of roasty, caramelized flavor. The rum, allspice, and citrus notes shine through and the club soda adds effervescence
2 oz Irish Whiskey (can use Jameson, but a slightly nicer bottle like Writer’s Tears or Redbreast gives some added nuance)
2 oz Stout (Guinness or similar is best, probably good to avoid stouts with too much added adjunct flavor like coffee, oatmeal, cocoa nibs, etc)
.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.75 oz Simple Syrup
.5 oz Dark Jamaican Rum (Coruba is my favorite, Myers would work in a pinch)
.25 oz Allspice Liqueur (St Elizabeth is nice and the most widely available)
Shake with ice, strain into chilled glass. Top with 2 oz Club Soda. Garnish with a lime wheel and freshly grated nutmeg
