A La Mode

A delightful cold weather dessert drink from Karin Stanley of Brooklyn’s Dutch Kills
The baking spice and cinnamon notes in the bourbon combine with the vanilla notes in the Licor 43 and the spiced apple cider to taste like a slice of apple pie pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream
1 oz bourbon (big fan of Heaven Hill’s Henry McKenna Bottled in Bond for uses like this)
.5 oz Licor 43 (Spanish Liqueur with vanilla and citrus zest notes)
5 oz warm apple cider (homemade or store purchased with some added cinnamon stick, clove, star anise work)
Stir together, strain into glass, top with 2 spoons of whipped cream (homemade or Cool Whip both work)
